Why Shanghai for Medical Care

Shanghai combines China's most advanced hospitals (JCI-accredited and top-ranked), international-standard service infrastructure, direct flights from 100+ global cities, and a cosmopolitan environment that makes long stays comfortable. Medical costs are typically 50-70% lower than the US for comparable quality.

Hospital Districts

Xuhui Medical Cluster: FUSCC, Zhongshan, Shanghai Chest, Shanghai Sixth People's, Longhua — the densest concentration of top hospitals.

Huangpu/Central: Ruijin, Renji West, Shanghai Ninth People's.

Pudong: Renji East, Shanghai East, Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Center, Jiahui.

Getting Around

Metro: 20+ lines, covers all major hospitals; ¥3-10 per ride; signs in English.

Safety and Comfort

Shanghai is one of Asia's safest major cities. Violent crime against foreigners is extremely rare. Tap water is not drinkable — use bottled or filtered. Air quality is generally good (AQI 30-100 most days); N95 masks available for sensitive patients.
