Allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy has entered the clinical stage. This off-the-shelf therapy is expected to significantly reduce treatment costs and shorten waiting times. Autologous CAR-T has a long treatment cycle and high cost, and some patients with rapidly progressing disease cannot wait for cell preparation. Allogeneic CAR-T is produced in batches from healthy donors, stored after quality control, and can be used on demand, significantly reducing waiting time.
Early clinical data
Early data show controllable safety, with adverse events such as cytokine release syndrome mostly at low grades. Efficacy data are being accumulated.
Outlook
If successfully approved for market, more patients can plan treatment with lower budgets through transparent quotes on regulated platforms. This progress will significantly expand access to cell therapy.
