China's cardiac interventional therapy has developed rapidly, and minimally invasive coronary treatment technology has reached internationally leading levels. Through coronary angiography, stent implantation and drug-coated balloon technologies, many coronary heart disease patients have avoided traditional open-heart bypass surgery, with less trauma and faster recovery.

Main interventional technologies

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the most common interventional approach: doctors deliver a thin catheter and guidewire through the artery in the wrist or thigh, and under angiographic guidance, dilate narrowed or blocked coronary arteries with a balloon and implant a stent to restore blood flow.

In addition to traditional metal stents, drug-eluting stents and drug-coated balloons have significantly reduced in-stent restenosis rates, offering more options for patients with complex lesions.

Technical advantages and safety

Interventional treatment is usually performed under local anesthesia, and most patients can be discharged within 1-3 days, much shorter than open-heart surgery. With the application of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT) and other intravascular imaging, the precision and long-term outcomes of stent implantation continue to improve.

Suitable patients

This applies to patients with stable angina, acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina. The specific treatment approach is decided by the heart team based on coronary lesion characteristics and the patient's overall condition.

MedBridge services

MedBridge can connect international patients with renowned cardiovascular centers in Shanghai, providing hospital selection, expert appointment, interpretation accompaniment and postoperative follow-up services.
