Shanghai Donglei Brain Hospital was founded by Prof. Song Donglei, formerly chief physician and doctoral supervisor of neurosurgery at Huashan Hospital (Fudan University) and founder of its cerebrovascular group. Opened in 2019, it is a Class III neurology-specialty hospital approved by the Shanghai Health Commission, about 20,000 m² with 300 planned beds, located in the Greater Hongqiao area some 7 km from Hongqiao airport and railway station. Prof. Song has performed over 20,000 brain and spine operations; the team was among the first in China to use the PIPELINE flow-diverting stent for giant aneurysms and an early adopter of ONYX embolization for AVM. Equipment includes Siemens 3.0T MRI, 128-slice CT, biplane DSA, Zeiss surgical microscope, neuroendoscopy and a ROSA robot. A pilot international medical tourism institution in Shanghai with direct billing from 40+ insurers.
